FAQ

Where are you based and do you travel?

I'm based in West Los Angeles, California and yes I love to travel and would be happy to come to you. A travel fee applies if the location is 20 miles outside the Los Angeles area.

What is the difference between a headshot and a portrait?

A headshot is basically an image to let other people know what you look like.
The image consists of your head and shoulders, you are looking into the camera, it is shot with neutral backgrounds, and the images are used in a professional capacity such as obtaining work in an entertainment field, for an organization's website, etc.

A portrait is an image to let others know who you are and what you are about. The image can be waist up, 3/4 or full body. The subject can be looking in any direction to create a mood that reflects a persons personality. The background can vary and be diverse to show a persons' individuality. The image can be used for a variety of purposes.

What does a session include?

The scope of work for most headshots or portrait sessions last from 1 to 2 hours. Digital images are purchased separately for $45 each ( includes editing, light retouching as necessary)
You will have access to an online proof gallery.
We can do the shoot in my studio or an outdoor location depending on your needs.
A make up artist can be arranged if you desire one ($125).
Please contact me for corporate headshot prices.

What can I expect during a session? What happens?

When you arrive, I will greet you and give you a brief orientation.
We will then go over wardrobe choices.
I put on some music and we begin our session.
I will periodically show you images on a 50-inch TV screen to help you with your expressions and to check your poses.
We will take a scheduled break and you can enjoy free drinks and light snacks.
We then finish the shoot , we will review images and provide expert advice on which ones will work.

What are retouched photos?

Retouching is basically polishing up a photo image. Basic retouching includes removing blemishes, softening the skin, whitening teeth, adjusting color, brightness, etc.

When will I get the photos?

Headshots & Portraits: Your will receive an online gallery link with the photos typically within 24 hours.

Events: An online gallery link will be sent within 3 days of the event.
Link will remain active for 2 weeks.

Weddings: Within 4 weeks after the wedding, the clients will receive a private online gallery link displaying selected digital retouched images for downloading. In addition, images can be dowloaded via dropbox.

Can I use the images for anything I want And can I ask the photographer to not post images I don't like?

The short answer is no. According to photography copyright law, photographers own the images they take and can do whatever they wish with those images. When you purchase images, you are actually purchasing a license to use those images for personal use only. It's similar to how one purchases songs on iTunes. When you do that, you are not purchasing the song, just a license to use it.

In light of COVID, what precautions do you take to ensure a safe shoot?

This pandemic requires new approaches to safely shoot but it does not have to limit results.
Go to "CONTACT" page to see the full list of precautions.

How do I book a session?

Send me a text, call me or email me at 424-281-9148 /info@aldocos.com. Or go to Contact page and leave a message describing what you would like to do and when you would like to shoot. I will return your message and answer any questions you may have. I will then send you a contract and invoice (with non-refundable booking fee). The balance is due the day of the shoot.

What should I do to prepare for a shoot?

Drink plenty of water the day before a shoot.
Get a good nights sleep.
Prepare your attire. Keep it simple. Coordinate colors for groups of 2 or more. Solid colors are best.
Make sure your clothes are ironed.
Arrive "camera ready" if not using a make up artist. This means to apply makeup, do your hair, etc. before arriving,
Be sure to arrive promptly.

Do you give any discounts?

Yes. I offer discounted rates for returning clients and clients that come from referrals.

What form of payments do you accept?

I currently accept cash, Venmo or PayPal. You can use VISA/Mastercard with a 2.5% processing fee added to your total.

What happens if I am running late or need to cancel a session?

If you are running late, please contact me as soon as you can. I will try my best to get everything you need in the time remaining but it is not possible to extend the session time due to other bookings following your session.
If you need to cancel, contact me as soon as you can so I can plan accordingly. However it is not possible to return your booking fee. This covers any lost bookings and costs already arisen before the actual session.
However, I understand that life happens, so an alternative would be to reschedule the session for a new date.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. ARC Photography maintains a general liability and property coverage policy.
